3 Series E36 318i (M43) SAL
Fit special tool 41 1 001 and position special tool
(supplementary plate) 41 1 004/005 on surface for vehicle
identification number.
Caution!
Do not damage the sheet metal fold.
Observe correct position of vehicle identification number in
opening of cover.
Insert special tool 41 1 003 (spacers) on left and right sides and
clamp.
Align special tool 41 1 001 parallel to screws (1).
Tighten screws (2).
Insert punch numbers 41 1 002 individually in special tool
41 1 001 and emboss the chassis number.
If parts or bodywork are replaced by the workshops, stamp a "+"
instead of the BMW emblem to distinguish clearly between front
and rear.
