Fault 05

When cassette is playing, sound is muffled.

Question

Measure

Is the tone regulator in centre
position?

No

Adjusting tone regulator. (refer
to Owner's Handbook)

Yes

Does the same fault also occur on a
different cassette with familiar tone?

No

If so, the previous cassette is
defective or a poor recording.

Yes

Does the fault also occur when
cleaning the tape head

No

Operating unit OK.

Yes

Replace operating unit.
