S50:

Unfasten screws.

Remove ignition coil cover.

Circuit diagram of compact ignition coil in breakerless ignition
distribution system.

A= Piloting primary coil from DME control unit

B= Ignition coil

C= Ground connection on secondary coil

Multimeter Test:

Resistance of primary coil is measured between terminals 1
and 15 and

R = 0.4 ... 0.8 

Ω

Resistance of secondary coil cannot be measured.

Terminal 1

Check casting compound of coil carrier for hairline cracks. 

If the gray material has emerged at the edges of the coil carrier,
this indicates a faulty ignition output stage in the DME control unit.

Replace ignition coil.

Check DME control unit.
