Replacing control module (DME) (M40, M42,
M43, M44)
Comply with instructions for removal and installation of
electronic control modules and
comply with instructions on disconnecting and reconnecting
battery, refer to
General Data 12 00
Before replacing the control module, always comply with the
following instructions:
Encode control module,
refer to 12 14 700
Program control module,
refer to 12 14 705
Caution!
Always interrogate fault memory with BMW DIS or MoDiC and
print out results.
Switch off ignition.
Unscrew bolts.
Fold cover with wiring harness to one side.
Note:
Control units are located behind battery holder in engine
compartment.
