Incorrect fuel level reading
E36 ex E36 compact
Complaint:
1.
The fuel gauge reading suddenly falls from 30, 20 or 15 l to zero whilst the car is being
driven.
2.
The fuel gauge reading sticks at 30 l after the tank has been filled.
Cause:
The float in the right-hand supply unit catches on the beading for the fuel tank tensioning
strap.

From the start of series production up to week 30/94
Procedure:
In the event of this complaint arising, the right-hand supply unit should be replaced with a
modified one. The part numbers listed below are not included in the Parts
Microfiche/Electronic Parts Catalogue.
