Engine hoist

M40, M41, M42, M43, M44

Situation: 

We have studied the procedures for removing and installing the above-mentioned engines
in all of our current vehicles using the engine hoists 11 0 000 and 11 0 020.

Due to the limited amount of space available in the engine compartment, we have been
forced to develop and introduce a new engine hoist for the 4-cyl. engines. When using
engine hoist 11 0 000, there is a risk of the upper section of the end wall being damaged
during removal and installation of the engine. To prevent this, it is necessary to use engine
hoist 11 0 070, as illustrated in Enclosure 1.

Furthermore, it is no longer necessary to dismantle the end wall of the heating (air intake
cowl) in the E36 when using new engine hoist 11 0 070.

The assignment of engine hoists to the engines is illustrated in the table in Enclosure 1.

Procedure:

Store tools will only be supplied when ordered.
