Grille mounting

E36 Saloon

Situation: 

The mounting of the right-hand grille for the ventilation/heater has been altered on all E36/4
vehicles as from the factory shutdown '93. Instead of the clips which have been used in the
past, this grille is now attached to the cowl by means of welding bolts and plastic nuts.

Effect: 

Only new grilles are now available for replacement purposes. This new grille can also be
fitted on all previous E36/4 models. However, a different mounting method has to be used
of course.

Affected
vehicles:

All E36/4 manufactured up to the factory shutdown 1993.

Procedure:

Fit a plug in the hole on the grille (1).

Attach the series clip (3) to the grille (2).

Attach the grille to the cowl and fix in
place with spreader rivets (2 and 3).

Note: 
The grommets (1) must always be
replaced.
