Window monitoring fault
E36 RHD
Situation:
The connections of the monitoring switch wires for the rear side windows have been
attached to the Basic Module (Ger. abbrev. GM) in reverse.
Effect:
If, in the event of a fault, the diagnosis system indicates "driver's side, rear", the system is
actually referring to the "passenger side, rear" window monitoring switch. And vice versa, if
it indicates "passenger side, rear" it is really referring to the "driver's side, rear" switch.
Affected vehicles:
E36 RHD
Period of manufacture: from the start of series production up to the introduction of the radio
passenger compartment protection, 03/96
Procedure:
It is important to remember, in the event of a complaint, that the connections for the
monitoring system for the rear windows are indicated the wrong way round by the
diagnostic programme. No further measures are required.
