Remove control unit.
Note:
Retaining screws of retaining springs do not have to be released.
Installation:
Observe control unit part number and coding when replacing.
Caution!
Bosch DME and Siemens MS 40 (MS 40.1) have different
control units. These must not be confused.
Risk of short circuits!
Differently coding on plug-in connections, code letter and
manufacturer on the type plate.
Refer to BMW Parts Catalog for a cross reference of types and
models.
Caution!
With test adapter 61 4 410 /61 4 411 , there is a risk of
confusion between Bosch DME and Siemens MS 40.
In order to avoid mixing up the control units to the engine wiring
harness, first check whether the new control unit can be
connected to the engine wiring harness.
Test adapter 61 4 410 /61 4 411 is zero-coded and fits on both
control units even if plug connections have different coding.
If units are mixed up, control unit and wiring harness are
destroyed.
