3 Series E36 318tds (M41) SAL
Unlock bayonet by turning counterclockwise.
Disconnect all wires leading to steering column at plug-in
connections.
Installation note:
Bayonet must be heard to lock.
Installation sequence:
1.
Bayonet
2.
Rubber ring
3.
Joint socket
4.
Ball joint, if necessary with Teflon ring
Airbag:
Unscrew bolt to dashboard carrier.
Installation note:
1.
Nut
2.
Spacer bush (not fitted to US models)
3.
Washer
4.
Screw (US models: 2 screws M8X22 Z1)
Unfasten shear-off screws (1) (e.g. use chisel on screw taper and
unfasten screw with hammer or mill off screw taper) and remove
steering column.
