3 Series E36 318tds (M41) SAL
Replacing backrest shell (only sedan):
Loosen retainers at bottom.
Installation:
Secure clips (16 mm long) with air pressure tacker (sourcing
reference BMW Parts Service).
Loosen retainers on backrest shell.
Installation:
Lock new retainers by bending with special tool 52 0 050.
Lift out cover all around and remove together with padding (foam
rubber).
Installation:
The spring clips in the plug-in groove must not be damaged;
replace them if necessary.
To avoid folds in backrest cover (1), it must fit properly in the plug-
in groove.
