Note:

It is not possible to claim for warranty reimbursement for this Customer Information and for
attaching the instruction plate stickers as this is primarily a consultation, or a reminder of
the correct procedures - please refer also to the Owner's Manual!

No claimable material expense will arise for the stickers as these will be distributed at a
proforma price.

The subject of fitting the fuel filler cap "obliquely" and of the insufficient closing angle of
rotation and above all of refuelling with the engine running also applies in principle for all
other BMW models with OBD-2. However, due to the pressure-controlled tank leak
diagnosis on E38/E39 vehicles, the "Check engine" lamp is not activated as frequently in
the circumstances described above.

The situation described in this Service Information bulletin, including the Customer
Information bulletin, should be made available to all sales staff to ensure that customers
are informed right from the vehicle handover.
