Removing and installing complete exhaust
system (M40, M42, M43, M44)
Unlock plug connection for oxygen sensor and disconnect.
Unclip cable from holder.
Release screw connection of flanges at exhaust manifold.
Installation:
Replace seal.
Replace nuts.
Tightening torque, 18 00 8AZ.
Apply a light coat of copper paste to threads, refer to BMW Parts
Service.
Release clamp on exhaust carrier.
Installation:
After complete installation of exhaust system, align exhaust carrier
so that it is free from tension.
Unhook rubber ring on rear axle carrier.
Installation:
Check rubber rings for damage, replace if necessary.
