Removing and installing, sealing or replacing
timing case cover at bottom (M50)

Remove alternator drive belt.

Check drive belt for coolant and oil residues, replace if necessary.

Caution!

It is essential to replace drive belt if it comes into contact with
hydraulic fluid.

Installation:

When fitting the drive belt, ensure it is correctly located on the
pulleys.

Remove cylinder head cover,

refer to 11 12 000.

Remove and install oil sump,

refer to 11 13 000.

Remove vibration damper,

refer to 11 23 010.

Remove hub for vibration damper,

refer to 11 23 031.

Drain coolant.

Remove the water hoses from the thermostat housing.
