3 Series E36 320i (M50) COUPE
Removing crankshaft (M50 VANOS)
Fit special tool 11 2 383 to crankshaft.
Remove sprocket with special tool 11 2 000 in conjunction with
special tool 11 2 004 or with standard extractor tool.
Installation:
Check Woodruff key for correct fit.
Heat sprocket with hot air blower or on hotplate to maximum of
150
°
C.
Caution!
because of the rubber,
do not exceed specified temperature!
Unscrew main-bearing-cap bolts.
Remove main-bearing caps (1 ... 7).
Lift out crankshaft.
Note:
Bearing caps (1 ... 5) are marked on the
exhaust side.
Bearing caps 6 and 7 are not marked.
Bearing cap 6 is the thrust bearing.
