3 Series E36 323i (M52) COUPE
Support coil spring with upper and lower coil between spring
retainers.
During clamping operation, spring coils in upper and lower spring
holder must locate completely in recess.
Special tool 31 3 341 must not be tightened or untightened with
an impact screwdriver.
Only tighten down the coil springs until stress on the thrust bearing
is relieved.
The coils may not be tensioned on a block.
The nut may only be released when both spring coils are fully
located in recess of spring retainers.
Replace nut with special tool 31 3 170/210 - if necessary,
replace wrench insert - unfasten and remove spring strut shock
absorber.
Important!
Screw connection of support bearing to piston rod must not
be released with impact screwdriver!
If a new coil spring is installed, observe Notes 1 ... 3!
Note 1:
Release special tool 31 3 141 and remove coil spring.
The special tool must not be tightened or untightened with an
impact screwdriver.
