Aligning hood lid
Note:
Engine hood was fitted and screwed in an unfinished body
shell.
Unpainted surfaces become visible after subsequent
movement.
These surfaces must be touched up with paint in the body
color.
Caution!
The Bowden cable, which connects both hood lid locks, must
be adjusted without play.
The Bowden cable sleeve must locate completely in the lock guide
because otherwise, after the Bowden cable release lever is pulled,
the Bowden cable slips into the guide and it is not possible to
open the locks.
Adjusting cable:
Remove grill (BMW kidney).
Cars with air cowl behind grill:
Strike inside center of grill gently with fist.
Cars without air cowl behind grill:
Apply light knock from fist on inside to the center of the grill.
Inner part falls back.
Pull chrome ring forwards and remove.
