Troubleshooting table for microswitch in EM convertible top (electric motor/semi-
automatic)
Test requirements:
Circuit diagram refer to,
Electrical Troubleshooting Manual Series 3 - E36.
DIS, MoDiC or BMW SERVICE TESTER.
Diagnosis disk for DIS, MoDiC or BMW SERVICE-TESTER.
Battery charged. If battery voltage is below 10.5 V, the drive units are switched off by the control unit.
Fuses in good working order.
Ignition lock in setting "R".
Trunk lid (S5) closed.
Open EM convertible top (semi-automatic)
Convertible top closed
Actuated: S4, S5, S6
Convertible top unlocked and raised over dead center
point
Actuated: S5, S6
Raise rollover bars
Actuated: S1, S5, S6
Rollover bars extended
Actuated: S1, S2, S5, S6
Unlock convertible top lid
Actuated: S1, S2, S5
Convertible top lid open (extended)
Actuated: S1, S2, S5, HS
Rollover bar retracts
Actuated: S1, S5
Rollover bar retracted
Actuated: S5
Convertible top stowed in convertible top compartment
Actuated: S3, S5
Close convertible top lid
Actuated: S3, S5, HS
Lock convertible top lid
