Note:

The hydraulic belt tensioner is filled with oil, so that a removed
element must always be stored standing upright.

Incorrectly stored elements can normally be bled by
compressing several times.

Installation:

Check installed direction.

Hold belt pulley in position on drive belt and unscrew bolts.

Drive out dowel pins on timing case cover towards rear of vehicle.

(diameter of punch less than 5 mm)

If necessary, remove VANOS adjustment unit,

refer to 11 36 010.

Unscrew timing case cover to cylinder head bolts.

Pull up bolts.
