Basic throttle setting/exhaust synchronization
(S50 B32)
Caution!
The actuating levers on the actuating shafts must always
be checked/adjusted!
To check/adjust the actuating levers, refer to basic throttle
setting.
Switch off ignition.
Caution!
Begin setting the CO values at an engine oil temperature of
approx. 40
°
C. Switch off the engine as soon as the CO
values change implausibly during the setting procedure and
allow the engine to cool down. To avoid a temperature-
dependent change in the measured values, make sure the
time needed for setting does not exceed approx. 15 minutes.
Checking basic throttle setting:
Insert paper strips between the 3 detent screws and the kinematic
detent points. When correctly adjusted, it should not be possible to
remove any of the paper strips easily.
If one or two of the paper strips can be easily pulled out, adjust the
actuating levers on the common actuating shaft for throttle
assemblies 1-2 and 3-4.
Basic setting of throttle valves:
In cylinder group 5-6, the lever (2) must rest against the leaded
stop screw (1).
This adjustment serves as the basis for adjusting cylinder groups
1-2 and 3-4.
Caution!
The idle speed stops on the throttle body must not be altered.
These have been factory-set and are protected from torsional
stress by paint.
The plastic caps on the detent screws must not be removed!
