Special tools required:

Important!
Check gear oil level after completing tasks.
Use only approved gear oil.
Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious
damage to the transmission.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
•
Shift transmission into 2nd gear.
•
Remove rear splash guard.
•
Remove complete exhaust system (E38).
•
Remove exhaust catalytic converter and intermediate
pipes (E46 S54 only).
Remove heat shield (1).
