Replacing knock sensor (S50)

Switch off ignition.

Remove complete manifold, refer to 11 61 050

Plug-in connections on knock sensors:

1. 

Knock sensor 1 (for cylinders 1 and 2)

2. 

Knock sensor 2 (for cylinders 3 and 4)

3. 

Knock sensor 3 (for cylinders 5 and 6)

Installed positions of knock sensors:

Knock sensors 1, 2 and 3.

Unfasten screws and remove knock sensors.

Installation:

Clean contact surfaces of knock sensors on engine block.

For tightening torque, refer to Technical Data 12 14 2AZ

Knock sensor 1:

Can be identified by parts number, length of lead and bush
housing.
