Greasing the brake caliper
M3, M5, M coupé, M roadster, Z8
Situation:
Ongoing quality observations have demonstrated that the use of
"Never Seez Compound"
anti-squeak compound, BMW part number 83 23 9 407 830, has an unfavorable
influence on the corrosion characteristics of the black brake caliper surface. Brake calipers
with black surface are only installed on M and Z8 vehicles.
Note:
Corrosion on the surface of the brake caliper only affects the visual appearance.
The operation of the brake caliper is not affected.
Procedure:
For all repair work or complaints which require the guides or contact points of the brake
calipers on any M or Z8 vehicles to be greased, the only anti-squeak compound to be used
is
"Plastilube", BMW part number 81 22 9 407 103.
