Half-length steering box
Z3 except M roadster
Situation:
In order to reduce assembly costs, the steering box is, with immediate effect, only available
from the parts sales department in the "half-length" version (steering box with the two axial
joints and bellows). The "short" version steering box available to date has been
discontinued.
For this reason, if an exchange is necessary, the steering box is, with immediate effect,
always to be replaced "half-length".
Bellows and axial joints remain available as single components.
Note for countries where parts have to be returned:
A warranty claim can only be recognised if the steering box is returned in the "half-length"
assembly state described above.

In contrast to the procedure to date, the bellows are no longer opened when exchanging
the steering box, rather the nuts on the track adjustment threads (arrow) are merely
loosened, the outer track rods unscrewed and the steering box renewed complete with axial
joints and bellows.
