3 Series E36 Z3 (M44) ROADST
Important!
The sealing washers described below must be attached centrally onto the support
pot or joint seal. Otherwise there is a risk of the sealing washers becoming caught
between the thrust bearing inner bush and the joint seat/support pot as the shock
absorber is assembled.
Clean the surface area of the support
pot (1) so that it is free from dust and
grease.
Peel the protective foil from the sealing
washer (2) and attach this centrally
onto the support pot (1).
Clean the underside of the joint seat (1)
so that it is free from dust and grease.
Peel the protective foil from the sealing
washer (2) and attach this centrally
onto the joint
seat (1).
Check the thrust bearing for cracks on the thrust bearing rubber section and for any other
signs of damage. If necessary, renew the thrust bearing.
Press the thrust bearing (4) and joint
seat (3) onto the shock absorber piston
rod.
Counterhold the shock absorber piston
rod (1) and tighten a new self-locking
nut (2), tightening torque 14 Nm.
Place a new seal (5) onto the thrust
bearing (4).
