False anti-theft alarm by radar-operated passenger compartment sensor
Z3 roadster
Complaint:
The anti-theft alarm system (DWA) occasionally triggers a false alarm. The radar interior
protection is stored in the "DWA alarm counter" as the triggering factor.
This Service Information bulletin only applies to vehicles in which a radar-operated
passenger compartment sensor module (SDR) with software status lower than 14.0 was
installed based on Service Information bulletin "False anti-theft alarm by radio-operated
passenger compartment sensor" 65 01 00 (555).
Cause:
The SDR module is too sensitive.
Affected
vehicles:
Z3 roadster with anti-theft alarm system (option 302)
Production period:
RHD vehicles from May 1997 to March 2001
LHD vehicles from April 1998 to March 2001
Procedure:
In case of customer complaint, read off the DWA "alarm counter" with DIS or MoDiC. If
several entries relating to the radar-operated passenger compartment sensor are found,
check the software status of the SDR module and replace the SDR module if necessary.

installing oddments compartment",
RA 51 16 200.
