Note:

On vehicles up to date of
production 09/98, 
a reinforcement plate (1) must
also be installed on each
shock absorber.

The hole and the outer contour
of the reinforcement plate
should be marked with a
chamfer on one side. 
The reinforcement plate must
be installed with the chamfer
face down.

From date of production 10/98
onwards, the contact surface
of the shock absorber is
convex in form. From this date
of production onwards, the
reinforcement plate is not to be
installed as this could result in
noises being generated.

Install shock absorbers into vehicle, 

see Repair Instructions 33 52 000.

Tightening torques:

Thrust bearing to body 24 Nm

Sock absorber to trailing arm 

in empty weight position  77 Nm
