Removing and installing / replacing ABS
hydraulic unit, from 1997 model
Caution!
Note "General Data",
refer to 34 00 ...
After finishing work:
Bleeding complete brake system,
refer to 34 00 047
When performing function check of hydraulic unit, first refer
to BMW Diagnosis System.
Switch off ignition.
Disconnect battery ground wire,
refer to Gr.12
Remove master brake cylinder,
refer to 34 31 500
To improve access, pull diagnosis connector and plug connection
on engine wiring harness out of brackets and place to one side.
Disconnect brake lines (V - H) between master brake cylinder and
hydraulic control unit. To unfasten the 11 mm dia. connections on
the hydraulic control unit, use special tool 34 3 171. Seal
connections immediately.
Caution!
Do not interchange brake lines; mark before removal if
necessary.

circuit)

from THZ circuit H to hydraulic control unit circuit H (rear-axle
circuit)
