E53:

Disconnect plug connections (1) and remove trim (2).

Installation:

The lines must be correctly clipped into the retaining clips so
as to eliminate the risk of damage (jamming of line).

Move selector lever to park position "P".

Turn ignition key to "zero" position and remove.

Slacken screw (1). It must be possible to move cable (4) slightly in
bracket (3).

Press interlock lever (2) down into limit position.

Tighten down screw (1).

Tightening torque, 25 16 5AZ.

Note:

Checking interlock adjustment:

- 

Ignition key removed or in "zero" position.

Selector lever must not move from "P" position.

- 

Turn ignition key to "ignition" position, press foot brake:

It must be possible to select all selector lever positions.

- 

Selecting all selector lever positions except "P":

In none of these positions should it be possible to turn the
ignition key back to the "zero" position and remove it.

- 

Moving selector lever to position "P":

It must possible to turn the ignition key back to the "zero"
position and remove it.

If necessary, readjust interlock cable.
