Removing and installing or replacing front
seat belt (Z3)
Caution!
Note safety regulations for handling airbag modules and
pyrotechnical seat belt tensioners,
refer to MG 72
Inexpert handling can trigger off the airbag or the belt
tensioner and thus cause injuries.
Remove and install left or right front seat (normal/electric)
(Z3 Roadster),
refer to 52 10 000.
Remove lower section of side trim, rear left or right,
refer to 51 43 015.
Mechanical belt tensioner:
Caution!
To prevent accidental triggering, secure seatbelt tensioner
unit before doing any work on the seatbelt tensioner or front
seat!
Procedure:
Twist slotted screw in seatbelt tensioner with screwdriver until a
display appears in the screen (arrow), changing from
green = armed (functional)
to
red = disarmed.
Installation:
After work is complete, rearm the seatbelt tensioner!
Pyrotechnical belt tensioner:
Remove orange plug connection (1) for belt tensioner.
Open cable connector (2).
Installation:
Secure wire with cable tie (2) so that orange plug connection
is not under strain.
