10 Radiator, Expansion Tank, Pipes > < 6 RA Venting Cooling System And Checking For Water Leaks (N42 _ N40 _ N45 _ N46)

Switch off engine.

Switch off ignition.

Open cap on expansion tank.

Fill expansion tank with coolant up to edge.

Close cap on expansion tank.

Run engine up to operating temperature until the thermostat
opens.

Coolant level check:

Slowly open cap on expansion tank so that residual pressure
reduces gradually.

To check coolant level, allow engine to cool down; coolant
temperature must not exceed 30

°

 C. If ambient temperature is

above 30

°

 C, allow engine to cool down at least to ambient

temperature.

Check coolant level; if necessary, top up coolant until float (1) is
level with top edge of expansion tank (2).

Close expansion tank.

Note:

The tank mark indicates the fluid level at approx. 20

°

C.
