3 Series E46 316i (N40) SAL
N40 only:
Release nuts.
Release and detach vent hose (1).
Unclip cable (2).
Unclip cable duct (3).
Detach plug connections of wiring harness section for ignition coils
in electronics box. This task is described in the section Replacing
control unit.
Pull off rubber strip from assembly partition wall.
Pull wiring harness section for ignition coils from assembly
partition wall and remove.
Installation:
Make sure gasket of wiring harness section for ignition coils is
correctly positioned in assembly partition.
Note:
Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit.
Check stored fault messages.
Rectify faults.
Then clear fault memory.
