Replacing tank vent valve (N42 / N40)

Switch off ignition.

Installation location:

Tank vent valve is located between intake air manifold and
assembly equipment partition wall.

Remove microfilter housing.

This work step is described in the section Removing and installing
heater bulkhead.

Remove assembly compartment partition wall.

This work step is described in the section Removing and installing
intake air manifold.

Note:

For purposes of clarity, this work step is shown on the engine after
it has been removed.

Unlock and detach hose from intake air manifold.

Unlock and detach plug from tank vent valve (1).

Detach tank vent valve (1) from holder and raise approx. 3 cm
upwards.

Detach hose (2) from tank venting valve (1).

Note:

Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit.

Check stored fault messages.

Rectify faults.

Then clear fault memory.
