Exhaust camshaft:
Note:
The twin surface for locating the camshaft has a curvature on its
upper side and a straight edge on its lower side.
In the firing TDC position of the 1st cylinder, the curvature on the
twin surface points upwards in the cylinder-bore axis.
Additional difference:
In the firing TDC position of the 1st cylinder, the recesses (1)
point to the exhaust side.
N40:
Note:
The special tool bore for the TDC position is located on the inlet
side underneath the starter motor.
For improved accessibility: unclip cable in area of special tool bore
and press to one side.
Crank engine at central bolt and secure flywheel with special tool
11 9 190 in firing TDC position of 1st cylinder.
N45:
Note:
The special tool bore for the TDC position is located on the inlet
side underneath the starter motor.
For improved accessibility: unclip cable in area of special tool bore
and press to one side.
Crank engine at central bolt and secure flywheel with special tool
11 5 120 in firing TDC position of 1st cylinder.
Automatic transmission only
Illustration does not show automatic transmission.
Important!
On engines with automatic transmissions, there is shortly
before the special tool bore (1) for the TDC position a large
bore (2) which can be confused with the special tool bore.
If the flywheel is secured in the correct bore (1) with the special
tool 11 9 190 , the engine can no longer be moved at the
central bolt.
