3 Series E46 316ti (N45) COMP
Note:
Steel pin (1) on cover (2) is secured in trim molding by retainer (3)
of plastic unit (4).
Push out retainers (3) through openings (1) in trim molding (2).
Remove seals (1) and (3) from trim molding (2).
Installation:
New seals (1) and (3) are longer than trim strip (2).
After inserting, form seals (1) and (3) a little by upsetting (push
together).
Cut seals (1) and (3) to length at ends to trim molding (2).
Glue ends of seals (1) and (3) with Loctite 380 (sourcing
reference: BMW Parts Service).
Installation:
If necessary, replace faulty clips (1) or seals (4) of trim
molding (3). Ensure retainer (2) is firmly seated at ends of trim
molding (3).
