Motorola V3690: return of exchanged telephones
E46, E53, E38, E39 with complete basic fittings for Motorola V-series mobile phone
(option 632)
Situation:
A Motorola V3690 mobile phone from the open market can be exchanged for a
replacement telephone with BMW-specific software.
This process is described in Service Information bulletin 84 03 00 (598).
Amongst other things, it is important that the original mobile phone (from the open market,
without BMW-specific software) is returned to Motorola within one week.
In a number of cases the mobile phone has not been returned!
Affected vehicles:
E38, E39, E46, E53 with complete basic fittings for Motorola V3690 mobile phone (option
632) and V3690 mobile phone, or with basic equipment for installation of mobile phone
(option 640) in conjunction with V3690 mobile phone
Manufacturing period: E38, E39, E46 from June 2000; E53 from September 2000
Procedure:
The original mobile phone must be returned.
This also applies to telephones that have already been exchanged, but which until now
have remained at the dealership.

If the original mobile phone (from the open market, without BMW-specific software) is not
returned to Motorola within the time stipulated, Motorola will invoice the dealer for the
replacement telephone.
