3 Series E46 318ti (N42) COMP
Note:
Removal of torsion spring is described on 4th cylinder.
The same procedure is applicable to cylinders 1 to 3.
Place special tool 11 9 390 on bearing bracket.
Note:
Do not tighten down nut (1), install without play only.
Secure special tool 11 9 390 with nut (1).
Note:
Lug (1) on special tool
11 9 390 must engage in opening (2)
on retaining plate.
Make sure special tool 11 9 390 is secured in retaining plate as
illustrated.
Unscrew bolt (1).
Relieve pretension on torsion spring (1) by carefully and slowly
opening pliers on special tool 11 9 390 .
