3 Series E46 318ti (N42) COMP
Do not crank engine.
Note:
When releasing and tightening down central bolt (1), grip special
tool 11 9 280 with a second person.
Slacken central bolt (1) approx. a quarter turn.
Remove special tool 11 9 280 .
N42:
Align engine at slackened central bolt to special tool bore in
flywheel.
Secure flywheel with special tool 11 9 190 in firing TDC
position of 1st cylinder.
N46:
Crank engine at central bolt and secure flywheel with special tool
11 5 120 in firing TDC position of 1st cylinder.
Note:
The engine must not be cranked while the central bolt is
slackened.
The engine remains secured with special tool 11 9 190 /
11 5 120 .
Remove inlet and exhaust adjustment unit.
