3 Series E46 318ti (N42) COMP
Note:
Position of exhaust adjustment unit (1) to timing chain can be
freely selected.
Lift timing chain and hold under tension.
Note:
The sensor gears (3) on inlet and exhaust sides are the same.
Fit sensor gear (3) on exhaust adjustment unit (1) and feed in
together.
Replace screw.
Install screw of exhaust adjustment unit and tighten without play.
Note:
Picture shows a schematic representation.
Important!
Incorrect installation possible.
Press clamping rail (1) by hand against timing chain and make
sure timing chain is guided in clamping rail (1).
Insert special tool 11 9 340 in cylinder head and bring adjusting
screw by hand on clamping rail into contact but do not pretension
timing chain yet.
