Removing and installing/replacing alternator
(N40, N42, N46, N45)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
•
Read out fault memory of DME control unit
•
Switch off ignition
•
Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery
Disconnect battery negative terminal and cover
•
Remove intake filter housing
•
Remove alternator drive belt
N42 only: Release screw on retaining plate (1).
N42 only: Unclip all cables and hoses from retaining plate (1).
Unlock and detach plug connection (3).
Release nut (4) and remove battery positive lead.
Tightening torque 12 31 1AZ
.
Release screws and remove alternator (2).
Installation:
Now clear the fault memory.
