3 Series E46 318ti (N42) COMP
Unlock plug on gas generator of ITS head airbag and disconnect.
Release nut (1).
Installation:
Replace self-locking nut.
Tightening torque, 72 12 6AZ.
Swivel ITS head airbag gas generator to one side (2) and
remove (3).
Installation:
Push on holder with oval bore of gas generator over stud.
Gas generator holder does not rest flush on support tube for
instrument panel.
There is an intentional gap (A).
Tightening the self-locking nut builds up a desired pretension,
which servers as additional security against release.
Installation:
Insert locating lugs (1) on ITS head airbag gas generator into
bores (2) on support tube for instrument panel.
