3 Series E46 330d (M57) SAL
Remove protective cap (1) at bottom of crankcase underneath
starter motor.
Using special tool 11 6 480 , crank engine at vibration damper at
front in direction of engine rotation.
Pin engine at TDC firing position of first cylinder; insert special
tool 11 2 300 for this purpose.
The cam tips of the first cylinder must point to each other (see
arrows).
Release screws (1).
Remove guide rail (2).
Open plug (1).
Tightening torque, 11 14 4AZ .
Installation:
Replace sealing ring.
