3 Series E46 330xd (M57) SAL
Release screws (1).
Remove suspension lug (2).
Unfasten screws (3).
Remove return pipe (4).
Remove protective cap (1) at bottom of crankcase underneath
starter.
Using special tool 11 6 480 , crank engine at vibration damper at
front in direction of engine rotation.
Pin engine at TDC firing position of first cylinder.
Insert special tool 11 2 300 for this purpose.
The cam tips of the first cylinder must point to each other (see
arrows).
Release screws (1).
Remove guide rail (2).
