3 Series E46 330xd (M57) SAL
Detach grounding strap from bearing pedestal (2).
Release screws (1) and remove bearing pedestal (2).
Release oil sump screws on transmission and engine sides.
Remove oil sump.
Installation:
If the oil sump is replaced, the oil level sensor with a new gasket
must be converted to the new oil sump.
Remove gasket (1).
Remove all sealing remnants from sealing surfaces (2) and
clean.
In area of joints (1), apply a bead of Drei Bond 1209 sealing
compound (refer to BMW Parts Service) approx. 3 mm high and
2 mm wide.
Caution!
Do not lubricate oil sump gasket.
Observe differing tightening torques of M6 and M8 screws.
Installation:
·
Install oil sump with a new gasket.
·
Insert all oil sump screws.
·
Insert screws on transmission side until contact is made with
screw heads.
·
Tighten down screws on engine side.
