3 Series E46 330xd (M57) SAL
Unscrew nut (1).
Release screws (2) on tensioner (4).
Detach clamping collar (3) towards front.
Remove tensioner (4).
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque:
Refer to Technical Data 11 23 2AZ
.
Installation:
Replace screws.
Remove vibration damper.
Release all screws on timing case cover (1) and water pump.
Remove water pump (2).
Note:
Turn special tool 11 3 340 (3) so that it is not pulled out
when timing case cover is removed.
Carefully remove timing case cover (1).
Mark direction of travel of camshaft timing chain.
Remove timing chain.
Press clamping rail (1) in direction of arrow and disconnect chain
tensioner with special tool 11 3 340 .
Remove clamping rail (1) from bearing pin (2).
Release screw (3).
Remove guide rail (4) in direction of arrow.
Release nut (5) on H.P. pump.
Tightening torque:
Refer to Technical Data 13 52 2AZ
