3 Series E46 330xd (M57) SAL
Release screw (1).
Remove guide pulley (2).
Rear drive:
Release bolts (1) on alternator.
Remove retaining bracket (2).
Remove alternator towards bottom.
Four-wheel drive:
Release bolts (1) on alternator.
Remove alternator towards top.
Rear and four-wheel drives:
Note:
Read out fault memory of DDE control unit.
Check stored fault messages.
Rectify faults.
Then clear fault memory.
