The DME control unit or the DDE control unit controls the engine speed. The DSC control unit controls
the brakes.

Active cruise control option for vehicles with 6-cylinder engines:
With this cruise control, a (time) interval from the vehicle in front can be set.
This option also has an LDM control unit for longitudinal dynamics management.
Exception: On the E63 and E64, the ACC control unit performs longitudinal dynamics management.

Instrument cluster
The instrument cluster of the E90 is almost identical to the instrument cluster of the E87.
The following is new:
•
On the round instrument for the speed display, there is an indicator disc for the desired speed (Set speed)
of the cruise control.
•
In the instrument cluster, there are 2 new, legally prescribed indicator lights:

Indicator light for the Active Steering

Indicator light for the Distance Control
The instrument cluster of the E90 is the same as the E87 in the following areas:
•
The on-board computer has further functions. E.g. Petrol engines have an oil level display.
And: The instrument lighting can be dimmed via the on-board computer.
•
The fuel reserve is displayed with a Check-Control message.
•
Condition Based Service in 4th level of performance
•
The instrument cluster control unit is the master control unit for the unit of measure in all displays.
•
The instrument cluster control unit is not a gateway (i.e. data interface) to the bus system.

Integrated heating/air conditioning system or integrated automatic heating/air-conditioning system
The E90 is equipped with the integrated heating/air-conditioning system (IHKR) as standard.
The integrated automatic heating/air-conditioning system (IHKA) is available as an option (option 534).
With the IHKA, the air-conditioning system can be controlled separately for the left and right side in the front.
Vehicles with diesel engines have an electric auxiliary heater.
