Upgrade of bluetooth telephone system

Situation:

Because of the different implementation of the Bluetooth standard in mobile phones, when
newer mobile phones or mobile phone versions are used which at the time of vehicle
production were not yet listed and recommended in the currently valid compatibility matrix
table, there may be compatibility problems between the mobile phone and the vehicle's
telephone system.

Affected vehicles:

E60, E61, E63, E64, E65, E66 E87, E90, E91, E92, E93 and E70
E46, E53, E83, E85, E86, R50, R52, R53
Manufacturing period: start of series production until end of series production.

Action:

In the event of a customer complaint, if the customer assumes a share of the cost of EUR
99.00 in conjunction with the settlement below, it is possible to upgrade the telephone
system in the vehicle in order to establish compatibility with the vehicle owner's mobile
phone.

Procedure:

Preconditions to be met before an upgrade is carried out

Vehicle age 

≤

 3 years

- 

Vehicle must be equipped from the factory with option 644, option 633 or
option 639 (US version only).

- 

The mobile phone model with the device software version must be listed in the
currently valid compatibility matrix table for this model series.

Note:

For this purpose, the customer must have the mobile phone to hand. The features
of the customer's mobile phone (model and software version) are compared with
the entries in the compatibility matrix.

Compatibility check, customer mobile phone / vehicle

Use the current compatibility matrix table to check whether the mobile phone is compatible
with the customer's vehicle.

A. Customer's mobile phone is compatible with the customer's vehicle

Important:

If it transpires during the compatibility check that the customer's mobile phone is
compatible with the vehicle, do not proceed with this Service Information bulletin.

Instead, use test module "Fault pattern catalogue for telephone systems" (access
this test module through the mask "Fault pattern selection" > "8400" or through the
mask "Function selection" > ....... > Telephone" or Telecommunication").

B. Customer's mobile phone is not compatible with the customer's vehicle

If it transpires during the compatibility check that the customer's mobile phone is not
