Checking camshaft timing (N43B16)
Special tools required:
•

Necessary preliminary tasks:
•
Remove all spark plugs.
•
Remove cylinder head.
Crank engine at central bolt in direction of rotation to firing TDC
position of 1st cylinder.
Inlet camshaft:
With cylinder no. 1 in firing TDC position, the cam of the inlet
camshaft points inwards at an angle (see picture).
Exhaust camshaft:
With cylinder no. 1 in firing TDC position, the cam of the exhaust
camshaft points inwards at an angle (see picture).
Note:
The special tool bore for the TDC position is located on the inlet
side underneath the starter motor.
For improved accessibility: unclip cable in area of special tool bore
and press to one side.
Crank engine at central bolt and secure flywheel with special tool
11 5 120 in firing TDC position of 1st cylinder.
