Test adapters for air-conditioning system

Situation:

The existing test adapter set 64 5 100 is extended by two further test adapters for
leakage checks.

In some cases, the leak detector is not sufficient when checking for leaks in air-conditioning
system components. This tool may be unable to detect very minor leaks. In cases of difficult
access it may also not be possible to locate a leak precisely with the leak detector.

For a detailed description of the procedure with the leak detector, please refer to TIS
document 6450... Leak detection with ultraviolet additives.

Test adapters have been developed to allow an unambiguous statement with respect to
defects in components. With these adapters, air-conditioning system components
(compressor, evaporator) can be checked for leaks with a pressure test.

refer to Repair Instructions 64 51 580

Note:

The extension only affects test adapter sets delivered up to 03/2007.

From 04/2007, only extended test adapter sets will be supplied.

Note:

Make sure that country-specific safety regulations are observed.

Staff should be instructed how to use pressurised containers (gas bottles) and
nitrogen (risk of suffocation). Here, the instructions given in the safety data sheet
issued by the gas supplier should be followed.

These adapters can only be used in conjunction with the following tools and
equipment:

1. 

nitrogen (in pressurised bottles)

2. 

manometer with a measuring range of at least 20 bar 

Procedure:

This special tool is a stock tool and will only be supplied to order.
